Applying For Aid

Applying For Aid

St. Andrew's Episcopal School believes that a family's financial situation should not prevent a student from attending the School. St. Andrew's operates a need-blind admission policy. Therefore, a family's application for financial aid will have no bearing on a student's application for admission.

The following procedures apply to families currently receiving financial aid as well as to those (including admissions applicants) applying for the first time. The financial aid application is threefold. First, families must submit a financial aid application form,           available here           , to the St. Andrew's Episcopal School Financial Aid Office by February 1, signifying they would like to be considered for financial aid.

Second, families must submit a financial aid application to School and Student Services (SSS), a service of the National Association of Independent Schools. Based on the financial information each family provides, SSS calculates an estimated amount each family can contribute to educational expenses. This helps St. Andrew's make fair and objective financial aid decisions. To begin the financial aid application for the 2012-13 school year, follow these steps below.

Note: If you apply for financial aid online, your information will be delivered more quickly to St. Andrew's, allowing us to make a faster decision about your eligibility for financial aid.

APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID

1. Visit sss.nais.org online.

2. Click on the prompt to begin the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS).  You only have to complete one PFS even if you have several children applying to St.   Andrew's. The St. Andrew's School Code for SSS is 6271.   You will be given a password that will allow you to return to your PFS at a later date before submitting it.

The third requirement of the financial aid application is that families must submit their completed 2011 tax forms, including the IRS Form 1040 statement of federal income tax and all schedules, along with a copy of their W-2 form(s) and/or 1099s, to St. Andrew's Episcopal School by February 15.

The fourth and final requirement of the financial aid requirement is to complete IRS Form 4506-T and submit to St. Andrew's Episcopal School by February 15.

All parents--custodial and non-custodial, natural and stepparent--must submit these forms by the appropriate deadlines to receive financial aid. In considering applications for financial assistance for separated or divorced parents, the School considers the assets of both parents before making any award, and will not be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses.

Both the applicant's family and St. Andrew's' receive the financial aid recommendations from SSS based on a computerized systematic analysis of the family's financial situation. St. Andrew's' Financial Aid Committee awards financial aid based upon the review of those recommendations, and required documentation.

Any student to whom financial aid is awarded can expect that aid to continue as long as he remains in good academic and disciplinary standing at St. Andrew's and provided his family continues to demonstrate need and is not in financial arrears. Application for assistance must be submitted annually.

St. Andrew's Episcopal School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, or disability in violation of state or federal law or regulation in administration of its educational policies, financial aid and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
